Abstract
The global adhesive film market size reached US$ 34.2 Billion in 2022. Looking forward, IMARC Group expects the market to reach US$ 45.8 Billion by 2028, exhibiting a growth rate (CAGR) of 4.99% during 2022-2028.
Adhesive films refer to solid thermoplastic sheets or partially cured thermosetting polymers specifically designed to stick different materials under extreme heat or pressure. These films are made of various materials such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polyvinyl acetate and polyvinyl butyral. They also include compounds like phenolic and epoxy resins and bismaleimide. They can be cut to size and attached to large-area components, substrates and lids. Adhesive films are electrically and thermally conductive as well as heat-cured at temperatures from 125-150°C. As a result, they are used in aerospace electronics, construction, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, and handheld computing.
Adhesive Film Market Trends:
The extensive use of adhesive films as bonding agents in the production of automobiles is one of the key factors driving the growth of the market. Automobile manufacturers are developing lightweight vehicles, wherein they use adhesive films as replacements for mechanical joints. Besides this, adhesive films are utilized by designers to enable unique design features instead of welding, bonding, sealing, laminating or stitching. These technologies also allow the engineering of exterior hard shell garment details, such as cuff tabs, reinforced hood peaks, pocket openings, and external protective laminated panels. In the electronics industry, these films are employed to hold information labels and warnings and protect insulation wraps, which enhances the safety of the packaging materials. Governments across various countries are also undertaking stringent initiatives to harmful emissions by promoting film adhesives that are silicone- and halogen-free and RoHS compliant. These adhesive films reduce material waste, thereby making industrial processes more environmentally friendly. Moreover, with technological advancements, manufacturers are introducing next-generation bio-adhesive films that provide high performance.
