汽车香氛与空气清净系统(2025)Automotive Fragrance and Air Conditioning System Research Report, 2025 |
||||||

Automotive Fragrance and Air Purification Research: Intelligent Fragrance Equipment to Exceed 4 Million Units by 2030, "All-in-One" Integrated Purification Becomes Mainstream
The "Automotive Fragrance and Air Conditioning System Research Report, 2025" mainly focuses on the following contents: the development of automotive fragrance and air purification technologies, market status, market size and installation trends, product solutions, technical characteristics of major suppliers in supply chain and their cooperation with OEMs, configuration strategies and installation rate differences of fragrance and air purification systems among more than 20 OEMs, patent rankings and characteristics of automotive fragrance and air purification among suppliers and OEMs, as well as standards and regulations, technical summaries and future trends.
As automobiles evolve from mere means of transportation to the "third living space", cockpit environment health has become a core dimension to measure automotive quality. In 2025, automotive fragrance and air conditioning systems are undergoing a profound transformation from basic functional additions to intelligent ecological integration. The fragrance system oriented by emotionalization and scenarioization, together with the air purification technology targeting sterilization, purification and active protection, jointly constitute the dual pillars of sensory experience and protection for the new generation of "healthy cockpits".
In 2025, the core feature of automotive fragrance industry is a development from a single, fixed installation position in the past to a "full-scenario" direction that is deeply integrated with the cockpit space and flexibly deployed according to scenario needs. This trend mainly stems from consumers' extreme pursuit of personalized and intelligent driving experiences, as well as OEMs' strategic consideration of enhancing product added value through interior functional innovation. Specifically, the deployment of fragrance systems is expanding from traditional prominent positions such as the center console and air outlets to more hidden, integrated and scenario-appropriate locations such as glove boxes, armrest boxes, seats and even the roof.
Since 2025, ceiling-mounted fragrance has become one of main innovation points in the cockpit, solving the problem of insufficient rear row coverage of traditional fragrances. Ceiling-mounted fragrance systems are usually deployed at rear ceiling, existing independently or integrated with the ceiling air conditioning outlets. Different from traditional fragrance systems in the glove box, under the center console or in the armrest box, they featured more uniform diffusion, no occupation of core storage space, and strong linkage with the rear entertainment system.
Hongqi Guoyue embeds a micro fragrance system in the roof interlayer, with turbo fan-shaped air outlets and sandalwood and cedar woody fragrances. It links with a 42-inch liftable 4K TV and seat haptic feedback devices to create an immersive theater experience.
In Yangwang U8L Dingshi Edition, the second-row air outlets are moved to the ceiling, and the fragrance system is deeply integrated with the five-zone air conditioning. Rear cockpit ceiling-mounted fragrance offers 10 theme fragrances, which link with anti-carsickness mode, ceiling screen light and shadow, and seats/air conditioning, allowing the fragrance to diffuse three-dimensionally from top to bottom.
The ceiling fragrance device equipped in GAC AION RT is one of the important configurations to enhance cockpit comfort and luxury. The system provides a variety of fragrance modes to choose from, such as "Forest", "Ocean", "Lavender", etc. Occupants can turn on/off the fragrance function and adjust the concentration or intensity of the fragrance through in-vehicle control unit (such as the center console screen or COMAND control panel).
According to ResearchInChina statistics, from January to October 2025, the installation volume of automotive fragrance systems has reached 1.552 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%. It is expected that the annual installation volume of fragrance systems will reach 2.023 million units in 2025 and double to 4.069 million units by 2030. Market size of automotive fragrance is expected to reach 4.57 billion yuan in 2025 and climb to 9.36 billion yuan in 2030, approaching 10 billion yuan.
In the field of automotive cockpit air purification, technical routes are mainly divided into two categories: "active purification" and "passive filtration". Among them, active purification technologies include negative ion generators, plasma generators, water ion generators, and photo-water ions; passive purification technologies include air purifiers, UVC photocatalysts, MOFS (Metal-Organic Framework Materials) filter elements, HEPA filtration, CN95 filters, CO2 concentration monitoring systems, AQS air quality sensors, PM2.5 sensors, etc.
At present, a single technology can no longer meet the demand. The mainstream solution is generally the "active + passive" composite purification solution. "Multi-effect integration" is essentially hardware compounding and control intelligence. It is a complete system that integrates multiple technologies such as mechanical filtration, chemical adsorption, ionization sterilization, and ultraviolet disinfection, and realizes automatic, accurate and efficient management through a multi-gas sensor network and AI algorithms.
Freudenberg's micronAir(R) F+ fragrance-purifying filter innovatively integrates a fragrance module with a high-efficiency filter element, achieving "filtration + fragrance" integration. Tests show that the micronAir F+ fragrance-purifying automotive air conditioning filter has a single-pass filtration efficiency of over 95% for particles with a diameter of 0.3µm, which can efficiently capture ultra-fine particles such as PM1 (<=1μm) and droplets, and effectively block small microorganisms and pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and mold spores.
BYD's "Green Purification System" integrates PM2.5 high-efficiency detection and filtration, high-temperature sterilization, and negative ion generators (such as Yangwang U8L). It can real-time monitor the PM2.5 concentration inside and outside the vehicle and clearly display the value on the vehicle's center console screen. When the value is too high (for example, exceeding 35 µg/m3), the system will prompt to take purification measures. In addition, after the negative ion generator integrated in the Green Purification System is turned on, it can sterilize, purify the air and refresh the mind, further improving the in-vehicle air quality. In terms of intelligent linkage, in addition to manual operation on the center console screen, the Green Purification System also supports voice control (calling "Xiaodi" to start). The Green Purification System of some models can also intelligently link with cloud services and vehicle status, such as remotely turning on the air conditioning in advance through the mobile APP for purification, or automatically cooperating with purification when detecting that the door is opened or the vehicle is powered on, ensuring fresh air as soon as you get on the vehicle.
The "UVC ultraviolet + MOFS (Metal-Organic Framework Materials) filter element" combination adopted by AITO M8/9 realizes active inactivation of microorganisms and super-strong adsorption of gaseous pollutants. UVC short-wave ultraviolet can physically inactivate viruses and bacteria (the removal rate of H1N1 virus is >99.99% in 15 minutes), while MOFS materials can accurately and efficiently adsorb harmful gases such as formaldehyde and TVOC with their ultra-high specific surface area and customizable pore structure. Their adsorption capacity is several times that of traditional activated carbon. At the same time, AITO M8/9 is also equipped with active purification devices such as negative ion generators and fragrance systems to ensure fresh air in the vehicle.
In addition, integrating oxygen concentration monitoring has become a new highlight of differentiation in healthy intelligent cockpits. For example, Leapmotor D19, in addition to the intelligent fragrance system that automatically adjusts the fragrance release intensity according to the in-vehicle air quality, is equipped with a vehicle-grade deep wild oxygen cockpit system for purification. It achieves an oxygen production capacity of 8 liters per minute at an altitude of 4000 meters through vacuum pressure swing adsorption technology, supports both diffusion and nasal inhalation modes, and links with air conditioning negative ions for purification. According to Leapmotor's official data, this system can increase the oxygen concentration by 5 percentage points within 2 minutes. The high oxygen content makes the breathing of in-vehicle personnel extremely comfortable, relieves fatigue and improves blood circulation.
On July 11, 2025, the C-AHI China Automotive Health Index Evaluation Framework (2026 Edition) was released. The C-AHI China Automotive Health Index is a dynamically developing and continuously improving comprehensive evaluation system. It is a third-party evaluation system developed by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd., aiming to assess the impact of the in-vehicle environment on human health. It focuses on in-vehicle air quality (VOC/VOI) and electromagnetic radiation (EMR), and has gradually expanded to cover multiple dimensions such as particulate matter purification (PM), material sensitization (VAR), antibacterial and anti-mold (VAA), and green travel (energy consumption, endurance). The official draft of the regulations is expected to be released in April 2026.
Compared with previous versions (usually referring to the 2023 or 2024 edition regulations), the 2026 edition framework maintains the three core dimensions of "fresh air, health protection, and green travel", and adds a number of evaluation indicators. The evaluation system is more comprehensive and in-depth, which is expected to promote the accelerated installation of fragrance and air purification systems.
Refinement of "Fresh Air" dimension promotes the comprehensive upgrading of air purification systems: In the "Fresh Air" sub-index of the new framework, air freshness and air conditioning filter performance evaluation items are added. Among them, "air freshness" explicitly focuses on in-vehicle carbon dioxide concentration, total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and in-vehicle odors. This means that meeting the standard of a single VOC (volatile organic compound) is no longer sufficient, and vehicles need to have the ability to effectively reduce CO2 and comprehensively handle TVOC and odors. This directly promotes OEMs' research and development and application of air purification technologies such as high-efficiency air conditioning filters (especially those that can filter aerosols and other particles), intelligent air circulation systems, AQS air quality management systems, and even negative ion generators. For example, some fragrance devices themselves have negative ion purification functions, which exactly meet the requirements for air purification in the new regulations.
Expansion of "Health Protection" dimension provides opportunities for the "healthy" application of fragrance systems: Although fragrance itself is not a newly added direct evaluation item, the continuous attention to VOI (Vehicle Odor Intensity) in new framework and newly added vehicle microbial colony evaluation item provide a background for the role transformation of fragrance systems. Traditional automotive fragrances may only be used to cover up odors, but under the new health standards, fragrance raw materials with antibacterial and bacteriostatic functions or intelligent fragrance devices deeply integrated with air purification systems will become more favored solutions.
The "Five-Star Healthy Car" is an authoritative certification issued based on the C-AHI full-item five-star evaluation standard, and has become an industry health benchmark. In 2025, many models such as WEY Blue Mountain, Li Auto i Series, AITO M9, and Xiaomi YU7 won the C-AHI "Five-Star Healthy Car" certification. These models can not only effectively eliminate consumers' doubts about "invisible pollution" in the car (such as formaldehyde, electromagnetic radiation, etc.), but also establish a stronger brand trust.
