Lactase is an enzyme present in the stomachs of humans and other animals that splits lactose into glucose and galactose. Lactose is found in milk products, and lactase aids in its breakdown. To address this issue, lactase is added to dairy products or lactase supplements are supplied so that lactose can be broken down before to intake.
