Fiber optic plates (FOP) are coherent multi-fiber plates that function as a zero-depth window, by shifting an image pixel by pixel (fiber by fiber) out of one face of the FOP into another side. These are used in a wide variety of applications, including CCD/ (charge-coupled device) windows, high-end imaging devices, and voltage stand-off devices for cathode ray tubes and electron microscopes, and as substrates for phosphors.

Fiber Optic Plates are made of a bundle of microscopic optical fibers that transfer light and images by total internal reflection.
