Abstract

This report provides an overview of current make-up scenario regarding the future outlook in terms of ingredients, product claims, labeling, distribution, and packaging. The global make-up sector was valued at $53.6 billion in 2022 and is forecast to record a CAGR of 5% during 2022-27, to reach $68.5 billion in 2027. Asia-Pacific represented the largest region in the industry in 2022, with a value share of 36.4%, followed by the Americas with 35.9%. In 2022, face make-up was the largest category, accounting for 37.4% of overall global value sales, followed by eye make-up (26.8%). Among all the categories, nail make-up is set to record the fastest CAGR at 5.4%, during 2022-27. The make-up sector in Middle East and Africa is forecast to record the fastest value CAGR over the forecast period at 13%. The top five companies in the global make-up sector together accounted for a value share of 41.5% in 2022. L'Oreal was the leading company with a value share of 20.9%, followed by Estee Lauder and Shiseido Company with 9.5% and 4%, respectively. In 2022, other leading companies, Coty, and Natura & Co, accounted for value shares of 4% and 3.1%, respectively.

With growing concerns around skin and body health among consumers, there has been an increase in demand for natural and clean ingredients in make-up products.
